Maintenance precautions for the engine block of Isuzu 4HK1

一.Precautions during installation/replacement
Cleaning requirements
Before installation, the oil stains, rust and impurities on the surface of the cylinder body must be thoroughly cleaned to avoid blockage of the water or oil passage.
The flatness of the mating surfaces between the cylinder block and the cylinder head as well as the crankshaft needs to be checked. If there are any scratches, they should be ground and repaired to ensure sealing.
Accessory matching
Original factory or of the same specification cylinder gaskets and bolts must be used to avoid seal failure due to mismatched parts.
The bolts should be tightened in stages according to the specified torque (usually 120-140N · m) to prevent deformation of the cylinder block.
二. Maintenance during Daily Use
Coolant management
Regularly check the coolant level and use antifreeze that meets the standard (avoid pure water) to prevent water channel corrosion and scaling.
Replace the coolant every two years and clean the waterways at the same time to prevent scale from affecting heat dissipation.
Lubricating oil monitoring
Change the engine oil and filter element regularly to prevent the oil from deteriorating and causing sludge to clog the oil passage of the cylinder block.
Regularly check the oil pressure. When there are abnormal fluctuations, it is necessary to check whether the oil passage inside the cylinder block is blocked.
三. Fault Early Warning and Handling
Leakage inspection
Regularly observe the junctions between the cylinder block and the cylinder head as well as the oil pan. If there is any leakage of coolant or engine oil, the seals should be repaired in a timely manner.
If cracks are found on the surface of the cylinder block (mostly caused by high temperature or frost heaving), the machine should be stopped immediately for maintenance to prevent the fault from expanding.
Corrosion protection
When the equipment is parked for a long time, the coolant should be drained and anti-rust agent added to prevent rusting of the water channels in the cylinder.
When the working environment is humid or has a lot of salt spray, the frequency of anti-rust inspection on the exterior of the cylinder block should be increased.
四. Maintenance after Overhaul
After the cylinder block maintenance (such as welding repair and grinding), a water pressure test (with a pressure of approximately 0.3-0.5MPa) is required to verify the sealing performance of the water channels.
After reinstallation, it needs to run idle for 30 minutes to check for any leakage or abnormal noise. Only after confirming that everything is normal can it be put into load operation.
